During one of his stays at the Children's Hospital in San Antonio, Rowan met Sgt. David Hixson, a medic with the Texas Army National Guard. There, Rowan shared his dream of always wanting to be a Soldier and soon after, Hixson, with the help of fellow Texas National Guard members, made it all possible.

Some falls can be prevented by wearing traction cleats over shoes and applying ice-melt salt to sidewalks.

Illinois Guard Soldier's invention improves howitzer safety and longevity

Wesley Todd, of La Porte, Indiana, tightens his invention, used to remove the muzzle break from the light towed howitzer, on to a lathe in the machine shop at the at the Combined Support Maintenance Shop in North Riverside, Illinois. The device Todd invented improves Soldier safety and equipment longevity while working on the light towed howitzer.
