NASA's Aero Spacelines Super Guppy landed at Mansfield-Lahm Regional Airport, November 24, 2019 while transporting the Orion space capsule. The Orion capsule is set to be tested in Ohio and the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard provided airlift and ground support to NASA during this phase of the mission. Soldiers with the Nebraska Army National Guard help support flood response efforts, near Columbus, Nebraska, providing multiple helicopters and crews to conduct extraction and relocation missions of citizens and pets identified as stranded or isolated due to historic flooding. Two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and one UH-72 Lakota helicopter began performing search and rescue missions, hoisting individuals from roofs of partially submerged houses in the Columbus area, and transporting them to the parking lot of the Pawnee Plunge Water Park, where local first responders were ready to assist. Balancing the time to fulfill his required flight hours and represent his legal clients requires commitment and flexibility from both organizations. Sgt. 1st Class Damien Larose rescued a woman from a house fire in Vermont on December 28, 2018. Larose was driving by the house when he noticed black smoke, so he called 911. As a North Carolina Air National Guard unit, the 145th Airlift Wing is "operationally gained" by the Air Mobility Command (AMC) and maintains a worldwide deployment capability. The 145th Airlift Wing was established on March 15th 1948 and resides at the Charlotte ANGB at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport as well as the Airport in Stanly County North Carolina. The Unit currently operates the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft which is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft in the airlift force and can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions.
