Afghanistan: Texas Army National Guard security teams ensure mission accomplishment for reconstruction team

Spc. Andrew Simmons, and Army Sgt. Adam Priebe, both assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), provide security outside the Shigal Girl's School in Kunar Province, Afghanistan while members of Provincial Reconstruction Team Kunar visit the school to check on the status of construction. The members of Company A serve as the PRT's security element and have earned high praise from the PRT commander.

Kuwait: Rhode Island Army Guard chaplain, former Marine provides chaplain services to Marine aviation unit

Army Capt. David Harvey, a former Marine and now chaplain with the Rhode Island Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment currently deployed to Camp Buehring, Kuwait, volunteered to provide chaplain services to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 (Reinforced), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, while they conducted sustainment training in Kuwait.

North Dakota National Guard concludes series of SPP engagements

Cody Lausch, Hannaford, N.D., cut a piece of detonation cord on the demolition range at Camp Grafton South, south of Devils Lake, N.D., June 21. The North Dakota Army National Guard's 817th Engineer Company (Sapper), Jamestown, are working with their Ghanaian partners in an exchange visit during annual training. The Sappers are using crater charges and other explosives. North Dakota and Ghana are linked through the Department of Defense-sponsored State Partnership Program.

Canada: Washington Army Guard combat engineers take part in international training exercise

Combat engineers from the Canadian Army and the Washington Army National Guard transport two Canadian military police vehicles up the Columbia River here using bridge boat pontoons Aug. 20 as part of training exercise Kootenay Castor 2012. The vehicles are being relocated to support the main training event of the exercise.

Germany: New York Army Guard engineers lay groundwork for improved training areas in Hohenfels

A Soldier with the 827th Engineer Company uses a front end loader to transport gravel to deposit at the site of a helicopter landing zone currently undergoing construction at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, Aug. 15, 2012. Soldiers with the 827th and 152nd Engineer Companies traveled to Hohenfels to aid in troop construction projects on the base's pre-deployment training area.

Ohio National Guard engineers work with Serbian Armed Forces on school reconstruction project

Soldiers and Airmen from the Ohio National Guard and soldiers with the Serbian army's 2nd Army Brigade paint the exterior fence of the Svetozar Markovic Primary School Aug. 13, 2012, in Kraljevo, Serbia. As part of the State Partnership Program, the Ohio National Guard's 1194th Engineer Company and 200th RED HORSE Squadron, and the Serbian 2nd Army Brigade are working side by side to repair the school, which was damaged by an earthquake in late 2010.

Kyrgyzstan: Hawaii Air National Guard refuelers bring spirit of 'Aloha', fuel to the fight

U.S. Air Force 22nd Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron members 1st Lt. Josh Ishiki, copilot, Capt. Michael Curtis, aircraft commander and Master Sgt. Eric Faurott, boom operator, give the shaka or hang loose sign after a mission on the flightline, Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan, Aug. 2, 2012. The shaka sign is native to Hawaii and is a sign of salutation that means friendship. The three team members are all members of the Hawaiian Air National Guard who work together to fuel the fight for Operation Enduring Freedom.  The group is one of the many 22nd EARS crew who flies the KC-135 Stratotanker over Afghanistan to provide aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft.

Spc. Terry Mills, with Company F, 1st Battalion, 171st Aviation Regiment, pulls Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Stumpff into a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter in Khowst Province, Afghanistan. Stumpff was stranded on a narrow cliff after being wounded in an ambush. Mills, who served as an aviation crew chief in the Army in the 1980s, retired as a civilian firefighter four years ago and enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
