Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich has challenged more than 1,300 other mayors who belong to the U.S. Conference of Mayors to sign an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement of Support. The statements ask the signers to pledge support for employees who also serve in the National Guard or reserves, and their families.

Florida Guardsmen credit training for success with Tropical Storm Fay missions

Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment make their way through a washed out section of roadway while assisting search and rescue teams help citizens trapped in their homes by flood waters caused by Tropical Storm Fay. Pentagon Memorial designer reflects on work as opening nears

The Pentagon Memorial benches are arranged according to the victims' ages and where they were during the crash. Col. Canfield Boone of the Indiana Army National Guard and Chief Warrant Officer 4 William Ruth of the Maryland Army National Guard were killed at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. The benches representing the 125 lives lost in the Pentagon are positioned so that the Pentagon is in the background view of a visitor reading the victim's name.
