Mullen: Guard families connect America, the armed forces

Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tells 1,500 people gathered for the largest-ever National Guard Bureau Joint Family Program Volunteer Workshop and Youth Symposium in St. Louis, Mo., on July 21, 2008, that caring for wounded servicemembers and the families of those killed serving their country is a national responsibility. "In the end, it's America that can do this," Mullen says. "It's not DoD, and it's not the VA. We've all got to do this together."
JTF-East training rotating from Romania to Bulgaria

A RED HORSE rises in Ohio

With the activation of a new 200-person detachment, Airmen from the Ohio Air National Guard's 200th RED HORSE squadron stand in formation during the detachment's flagging ceremony July 20 at Mansfield Air Guard Base, Ohio. RED HORSE squadrons are manned by civil engineers who can build and repair air bases and rapidly deploy to recover an air base after a natural disaster or enemy attack.

Oregon National Guard prepares for fire season
