Exercise Makani Pahili tests Hawaii's hurricane preparednes

A Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosives Enhanced Response Force package team participating in Operation Makani Pahili 2012, extracts a mock-victim from a rubble pile June 5, 2012 in Oahu, Hawaii. The exercise, which took place June 4 to June 8, was a state-wide, multi-agency emergency response exercise designed to test Hawaii's capabilities in the case of a natural disaster.

Arizona Army National Guard aviators prepare for fire season

Soldiers from the Arizona Army National Guard's Company A, 2nd Battalion, 285th Aviation Regiment use a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to draw and drop water through the use of a buoy wall and a Bambi Bucket during wildfire firefighting training at the Buckeye Armed Forces Reserve Center, Ariz. Humanitarian aid bound for Haiti, delivered by Kentucky Air National Guard

Air Force Staff Sgt. Raymond Graves III, an air cargo specialist with the Kentucky Air National Guard's 123rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, secures cargo netting on a pallet of humanitarian goods bound for Haiti. The Kentucky Air Guard is transporting humanitarian aid items through a program with the U.S. Agency for Internal Development, something they did in 2010 after an earthquake struck the country.
