Ohio National Guard conducts water crossing exercises with Hungarian forces

GYOR, Hungary - Military vehicles belonging to 1st squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany, are ferried over the Danube River during a rehearsal river crossing at Gyor, July 4. The ferry is employed by 837th Brigade Engineer Battalion, Ohio National Guard, and 37th Engineer Regiment, Hungarian Ground Forces. The exercise, Szentes Axe, a Hungarian-led exercise under Saber Guardian, facilitates the freedom of movement for 2nd Cavalry Regiment as the unit moves into Romania for more training with NATO Allies and partners. Exercise Iron Wolf 17 is one of many similar Exercise Saber Strike17 events across Europe designed to deter aggression and strengthen alliances between the U.S., Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Croatia, Portugal and other allied nations.
