Michigan's first A-10 deployment proves combat readiness

Lt. Col. Doug Champagne, commander of the 107th Fighter Squadron of the Michigan Air National Guard, is strapped into the A-10 that he deployed in as part of Operation Demons to DM on Jan. 9, 2010. After just six months of flying the A-10 mission at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, the 107th's Red Devils along with about 120 maintenance and support personnel, deployed to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., where the Michigan Guardsmen took advantage of the ideal weather conditions to to prepare to upcoming missions in support of global operations.

Napier enjoys representing troops in Olympics

U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program bobsled pilot Sgt. John Napier and teammate Steve Langton are greeted at the finish line of the Olympic two-man bobsled finals at Whistler Sliding Centre Feb. 21, 2010. Napier drove USA II to a 10th-place finish with a four-run combined time of 3 minutes, 29.40 seconds.

Wingman Project implemented for Deep Freeze mission

The Wingman Project is a Total and Joint Force program designed to eliminate suicides among Airmen and family members through human outreach, media and training. The project trains Airmen and their families on how to identify a person in crisis, and how to intervene to save a life. The training method is called ACE, which stands for Ask, Care and Escort.

Georgia brigade begins redeployment from Afghanistan

Georgia Guardsmen from Springfield's Battery A, 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery embrace each other after arriving safely back in Georgia at Savannah's Hunter Army Airfield. The more than 100 artillerymen spent a year in Afghanistan helping the Afghan army and National Police become more efficient at taking over the security of their country.
