Utah Army National Guard Sgt. Rohbock strikes World Cup gold on bobsled farewell tour

U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program bobsled pilot Sgt. Shauna Rohbock, of the Utah Army National Guard, (right) and Michelle Rzepka push USA I to a start time of 5.20 seconds in the third heat of the Olympic women's bobsled event at the Whistler Sliding Centre. They finished sixth in the competition with a four-run combined time of 3 minutes, 34.06 seconds. The Canadian duo of Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse won the gold medal in 3:32.28. Rohbock is considering retiring from the sport after the 2011 World Championships.

Oregon National Guard platoon awarded Presidential Unit Citation

Army Maj. Gen. Raymond Rees, the adjutant general, Oregon (left), stands with Oregon Attorney General John Kroger, 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team commander Army Col. Eric Bush, and 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment commander Army Lt. Col. Eric Riley, during a ceremony honoring soldiers of 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 2-162 IN BN, where they were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation at the Corvallis Armory, Jan. 8. The soldiers received the award for their heroic actions during the Battle of Fallujah, Iraq in November 2004.

National Guard supports civilian authorities tackling Southeast winter storm
