Army National Guard duo set to test limits of human potential

Sgt. 1st Class Sterling Deck and Army Maj. Cary Gilman, both from the National Guard Bureau Office of the Inspector General, navigate a shallow stream while carrying heavy logs on their shoulders Apr. 6, 2012 in Arlington Va. Deck and Gilman were training for the Spartan Death Race, a 48 hour endurance race scheduled for June 15 in Pittsfield, Vt. Their training session also included sprinting up and down hill while carrying heavy packs and tires, simulating wood chopping with a sledgehammer and tire and performing other exercises in timed circuits.

Kennedy School of Government recently. The panel was the conclusion of the second annual General and Flag Officer Homeland Security Executive Seminar at Harvard University. Fifty professionals throughout the country from the rank of colonel to major general and Defense Department civilians attended the course designed to provide a broad understanding of federal and state emergencies, crisis decision making and multi-agency collaboration.

New York Air National Guard Wing trains MQ-9 pilots and sensor operators for entire Air Force

A student pilot and sensor operator, man the controls of a MQ-9 Reaper in a ground-based cockpit during a training mission flown from Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, New York. The 174th Fighter Wing is the only Air National Guard unit in the country to operate a MQ-9 Formal Training Unit to train aircrews from the active duty Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
