New Hampshire Air Guard air traffic controllers impart wisdom to Salvadorans

Richard Reed, 260th Air Traffic Control Squadron, briefs El Salvadoran air force air traffic controllers on how the New Hampshire Air National Guard trains their own air traffic controllers, as part of a weeklong subject matter expert exchange between the New Hampshire Air National Guard and the El Salvadoran air force, in San Salvador, El Salvador, May 7-11, 2012. This SMEE was part of the National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program.

Illinois Guard members awarded Silver Star from Dempsey, others also recognized

Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, awards Army Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Ahern, with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), the Silver Star at the Pritzker Military Library in Chicago, May 19, 2012. Ahern was awarded the Silver Star for saving the lives of his injured teammates in Afghanistan in 2009. He thanked members of his unit and his family for the sacrifices they made during his deployment. Also pictured is Army Capt. Tom Bozzay, with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 20th SFG (Airborne), who received the Silver Star from Dempsey as well.

Polish president bestows medal upon Illinois governor, Guard members

Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski visited Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers and five Polish officers who were conducting training May 20, 2012 at the Marseilles Training Center in Marseilles, Ill. Komorowski was accompanied by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn and senior leaders of the Illinois National Guard, to include Army Maj. Gen. William L. Enyart, the adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard. Komorowski presented Quinn, Enyart, and 13 other Illinois Guard members with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, an honor that is bestowed upon foreigners for distinguished contributions to international cooperation with the nation of Poland.

Seven members of the Joint Communications Support Element, a subordinate command of the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command embark on the USNS Mercy in support of Operation Pacific Partnership 2012. The team, all members of the 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron, a Georgia Air National Guard unit aligned to JCSE, will provide essential unclassified and classified communications capabilities throughout the duration of the mission.
