National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program transforms young lives

Frank Grass, chief, National Guard Bureau, joins other National Guard leaders, including former chiefs, and civilian appointed and elected leaders for an evening with cadets from the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 2015. More than 130,000 young people have received a second chance thanks to the National Guard's Youth ChalleNGe Program, which has 35 academies in 27 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
Calif. National Guard marksmen top active duty Soldiers for third straight national championship

A team of California Army National Guard Soldiers won their third title in a row at the U.S. Army Small Arms Championship at Fort Benning, Ga., Feb. 1-7, 2015. They fired in more than 20 matches using rifle and pistol against teams from the Reserves, Active Duty and ROTC. Team California took home the top trophy but also brought in numerous other team and individual awards that tested their stamina, aim, and knowledge of multiple guns and targeting scenarios. New York home of historic 'Harlem Hell Fighters' getting a $42 million renovation

Historic details like this door will be preserved during a $42 million, two-year renovation project at New York City's historic Harlem Armory. The Art Deco building, completed in 1933, is the home of the 369th Sustainment Brigade, the descendent of the famous Harlem Hell Fighters, an African-American National Guard unit which distinguished itself during World War I.

Missouri Guard Homeland Response Force conducts simulated disaster response

Members of the Missouri National Guard Homeland Response Force’s logistical operations team recently conducted a simulated disaster response. During the HRF S4 Logistics Workshop held at Lambert International Airport, Sgt. Jennifer Campbell, the team’s Analog NCO, updated the site trackers to reflect the situation at each mock incident site. Trackers like these provide a backup should digital information be lost during a system outage.
