Part of the National Guard’s Youth ChalleNGe Program, which includes 37 academies throughout the country, the Freestate ChalleNGe Academy opened in 1993 and was one of the first academies of the program.

Citizens were snowed in to their homes due to a winter blizzard that caused roads to be impassable.
