Valorous Unit Award presented to Texas aviation regiment illustrates Guard 'warfight' mission

Maj. Gen. James K. "Red" Brown, commander of the 36th Infantry Division, and Col. Rick Adams place the Valorous Unit Award on the "colors" of the 1-149th Attack-Reconnaissance Battalion during a ceremony held Feb. 8, 2014, at Ellington Field. The unit was awarded this high honor for exceptional performance during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 1-149th is an AH-64 "Apache" battalion assigned to the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade and earned the award for their 2006-2007 deployment to Iraq.

Widow of fallen Soldier joins Florida Army National Guard

Pvt. Alecia Calloway is one of the newest members of the Florida Army National Guard. On Aug. 27, 2014, Calloway - a widow of an Army Soldier -  took the Oath of Enlistment at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Jacksonville, joining the Florida Army National Guard’s 2153rd Finance Detachment.
