Serving in Antarctica: Chaplain on ice

U.S. Air Force Chaplain Maj. Pete Drury stands atop Castle Rock, about an eight-mile hike from the town of McMurdo, with Mt. Erebus in the background. Chaplain Drury completed a deployment to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze, which in turn supports the United States Antarctic Program scientific research efforts.

Virginia National Guard again activated for snow duty

The Virginia Guard alerted approximately 70 Soldiers March 4, 2015, to stage and be ready for possible response operations due to heavy snow or flooding. Soldiers from the Staunton-based 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will stage in Winchester, Staunton, Leesburg, Fredericksburg and Harrisonburg, and Soldiers from the Gate City-based 1030th Transportation Battalion will stage in Gate City.
