Wisconsin Guard medevacs dialysis patients out of area isolated by flooding

Crewmembers from the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s West Bend, Wis.-based Company F, 2nd Battalion, 238th Aviation assist a dialysis patient from the Bad River Reservation in northern Wisconsin out of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter July 13, 2016, after conducting a medevac mission from the reservation to Ashland, Wis., for treatment. Torrential rains and severe weather that struck the area July 11 cutoff road access to the reservation and left five members of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa unable to get to a medical facility for dialysis.

The project is a Humanitarian Civic Assistance project made possible by the U.S. European Command in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia.

Va., discuss the details of WVARNG and other first responders’ efforts in saving lives the night of June 23. Sudden, severe flooding threatened the lives of people in the area of Clendenin. The WVARNG worked hand-in-hand with other civilian first responders to quickly react and save lives.
