New York National Guard's 'Fighting 69th' leads world's largest St. Patrick's Day parade

New York Army National Guard Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry lead two Irish Wolfhounds, the mascots of the battalion, during the 2013 St. Patrick's Day Parade up 5th Avenue. The "Fighting 69th" traditionally leads the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Facelift of Harlem Hell Fighters Home wins prestigious New York City Preservation Prize

A brand new Art Deco-style federal eagle decorating the entrance to the New York National Guard's Harlem Armory towers over the East River and Harlem River Drive in New York City, as the result of a $2.2 million project which has been recognized with the New York Landmarks Conservancy's Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award. The building was originally built to house the 369th Infantry Regiment- famous as the Harlem Hell Fighters- which distinguished itself in World War I.

Louisiana Guard members reinforce levee and rescue more residents from high water

More than 15 Louisiana National Guard members from the 1022nd Engineer Company and the 844th Engineer Company out of West Monroe are assembling emergency levee walls on the banks of the Ouachita River in Monroe on March 13, 2016, to protect the city from rising river levels caused by excessive rainfall. The Soldiers are working in conjunction with the Tensas Levee Basin District to transform half a mile of hinged concrete slabs, which are usually the sidewalk alongside the river, into a six-foot tall levee.

New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing wraps up Antarctic support mission

Maj. Gen. Anthony German, the commander of the New York Air National Guard, and the Assistant Adjutant General of New York, has been selected as the 53rd adjutant general of New York by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. He replaces Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy who will become director of plans, policy, and international affairs for the National Guard Bureau.
