Citizen-Soldiers come to the rescue in Florida

Officer Thomas Ashlock patrols the neighborhoods of St. Augustine Beach with his own Soldiers from the 221st Ordnance Company (EOD), shortly after hurricane Matthew disrupted the beach community.  Ashlock not only aids his community as a law enforcement officer, he also serves in the Florida Army National Guard as the commander of the 221st Ordnance Company.

South Carolina National Guard assists with life-saving mission during Hurricane Matthew

The South Carolina National Guard has assets staged throughout the lowcountry and along the coast to respond to emergency situations during and after Hurricane Matthew, including vehicles that can transport medical personnel and other first responders through high-water areas and engineer assets to help clear debris in the aftermath.
