New York Army Guard Officer Candidates to Train in Albania

Illinois Guard Soldiers Receive Polish Armed Forces Medal

Shawn Tabankin, the commander of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, holds the "Kilmer Cross" at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, where the battalion is stationed while on duty at locations in the Horn of Africa. The crucifix was the property of poet Joyce Kilmer, who died while serving in the 69th Infantry in World War I.
