Army Guard continues stability ops in Iraq

Army Spc. Grant Flegel moves the crane on the Heavy Expanded Mobile Tactical Truck (HEMTT) wrecker into place during training for the upcoming deployment with Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team at the Gowen Field Training Area near Boise, Idaho, Aug. 28, 2010. This training helps cross-train the drivers of the HEMTT and the mechanics that service it, so the drivers will be better equipped to handle break-downs and towing procedures of this vehicle and others in a convoy.

JET Airmen MOVE to 386th AEW as part of drawdown in Iraq

A Joint Expeditionary Tasking Airman assigned to the 732nd Air Expeditionary Group serves as an advisor to Iraqi military members. JET Airmen typically work for other U.S. military services and often perform functions not usually associated with the Air Force. The 732nd AEG recently moved its headquarters staff out of Iraq to join the 386th Air Expeditionary wing here, but its JET Airmen will remain in Iraq to perform a variety of combat support missions like construction, communications and logistics.
Oregon Guard, port officials visit Bangladesh

Maj. Dan Schilling, the former director of the Oregon National Guard’s State Partnership Program, meets with Lt. Gen. Mohammed Abdul Wadud, the principle staff officer for the Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh in Dhaka, Aug. 9, 2010. Schilling and officials from the Portland International Airport met with Bangladeshi transportation officials to discuss security and safety protocols, based on a collaborative work plan developed in April. The group also discussed joint training and information sharing for disaster response, humanitarian aid, and training exercises as part of an overall SPP strategic plan.
Kentucky Airman helps establish first air coordination cell in Pakistan

About 40 airmen assigned to the U.S. Air Force's 621st Contingency Response Wing are working with Pakistani officials to support humanitarian airlift operations and deliver relief supplies to locations throughout Pakistan.

Now, the director says the agency can enforce standards and do the government’s work.

Massachusetts transportation company moves heavy equipment in Iraq

John Spagna, a driver with the Massachusetts National Guard's 2nd platoon, 1166th Combat Heavy Equipment Transport Company, 164th Transportation Battalion, secures a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle to a CHET trailer, Aug. 15, 2010. The MRAPs, were picked up from Forward Operating Base Warrior and delivered to Contingency Operating Base Speicher in support of the responsible drawdown of forces in Iraq. From COB Speicher, the MRAPs will go to Kuwait, from there, the Army will send them to the U.S. or to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
