Texas Guard unit signs forward operating base over to Afghan control

Panjshir Provincial Governor Keramuddin Karim triumphantly raises a key of the city given to him by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Daniel Gajewski, Chicago native and 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, Provincial Development Support Team commander, during a transfer of authority ceremony at Forward Operating Base Lion Dec. 28. The ceremony marked the official handover from U.S. forces to Afghan control.

Samuel Forester, executive officer of the Missouri Agribusiness Development Team, leads an instructional seminar for Afghan government officials on meat inspection in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. Forester is also a U.S. Department of Agriculture certified meat inspector and his main goal was to show agricultural officials how to work with available resources to educate farmers and commercial butchers on good sanitation practices and animal health.
