A delegation from the Oregon National Guard met with key civic and military leaders in Bangladesh Oct. 25-30 to discuss a collaborative partnership between Oregon and the South Asian country. This is the first official partner for Oregon in the U.S. State Department's "State Partnership Program", developed to foster alliances between the United States and foreign countries.

The event marked the Army's achievement of its 2008 recruiting effort, bringing in more than 170,000 new Soldiers to the Army, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. Sanders, from the Utah Army National Guard and Rios, from the New York Army National Guard, received their oath of enlistment from General William Wallace, commander of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command. Members of the Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard were all represented in the enlistment ceremony.

Country music recording artist Laura Bryna and her band performing in their new music video "Hometown Heroes." The music video was previewed at the National Guard Association of the United States Baltimore Convention Center Sept. 22. Air Guard recruiting officials said the music video will be a new element to the Air Guard's recruiting campaign messages through Web postings and other advertising outlets in conjunction with Bryna's commercial release of the song.
