Staff Sgt. Scott Thompson, munitions technician, drives a MJ-1B bomb lift to load BDU-50 inert bombs to a trailer for assembly and transport to the flight line. Master Sgt. Jim Stenger, assistant munitions supervisor, guides the bombs during transport to the trailer. This bomb lift, and others like it, is maintained by the wing's aerospace ground equipment shop.

Members of the Guam National Guard's 94th Weapons of Mass Destruction, Civil Support Team (CST) assess a simulated suspected terrorist crime scene at a vacant high school near Tumon Bay, Guam Sept. 17 as part of the National Guard Bureau sponsored exercise Vigilant Guard. Vigilant Guard is a multi-day homeland defense exercise designed to enhance the Guard's and other agencies' capabilities and abilities to join in an emergency.

Lt. Col. Thomas Fennell climbs aboard an A-10 Thunderbolt II prior to a mission at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, Sept. 12. Colonel Fennell is finishing up what will most likely be his last combat deployment with the A-10. As part of the 111th Fighter Wing, a Pennsylvania Air National Guard unit, the 103rd FS is scheduled to lose its aircraft in the spring of 2009. Colonel Fennell is a pilot with the 103rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron.
