Royal Netherlands air force turns to Iowa Air Guard for F-16 paint-job

A Fighting Falcon from the Royal Netherlands Air Force is ready to go Feb. 8, 2012, after receiving a new coat of paint. The B model F-16 Fighting Falcon was in and out of the Air National Guard Paint Facility in just a few weeks. This is the first international aircraft that was painted here at the Sioux City, Iowa, based facility.

Air Force Master Sgt. Leslie Blanks returned home Jan. 6, 2012, after a 6-month deployment to Liberia, where he worked as a mentor and adviser to a group of Liberian military personnel. Blanks is a member of the 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich. The Michigan National Guard and the Armed Forces of Liberia recently entered into a partnership through the National Guard's State Partnership Program.

James Stanfield with Company F, 634th Brigade Support Battalion, mans the turret in Sparta Training Area's new Virtual Vehicle Simulator, a state-of-the-art combat simulator capable of putting over 25 Soldiers into the same massive virtual environment. The VVT allows Stanfield to see into a custom-made scenario (his view is shown on the screen behind him) while still operating realistic equipment like vehicle controls and mock machine guns.

She visited Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Feb. 4, 2012, as part of a tour of several Michigan National Guard facilities. At each stop, she spoke to Airmen and Soldiers and sought their input on issues to take back to the senior leaders of the Guard.
