Most Michigan National Guard members return home from Flint water assistance

Maj. Gen. Gregory Vadnais, adjutant general of the Michigan National Guard, awards Capt. Anthony Corsi, a member of the Detroit-based 1225th Support Battalion, with a Michigan Active State Service Ribbon with Bronze Oak Leaf Device and the Michigan Legion of Merit Medal, Jan. 25, 2016, for his service with Task Force Flint. Corsi and four other Michigan National Guard Soldiers comprised the TFF Warehouse team that managed the inventory of bottled water and other supplies distributed to Flint residents.

Members of the 920th Rescue Wing and the 249th Airlift Squadron conduct a pre-mission briefing aboard a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, Jan. 14, 2016, before departing for a simulated astronaut rescue mission. The 249th AS worked with NASA, the 920th Rescue Wing, the 45th Space Wing and Detachment 3 of the 45th Operations Group to develop tactics, training and procedures to quickly and safely recover astronauts in the event they would need to abort their spacecraft.

Va. National Guard continues assistance after historic snowstorm

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Pulaski-based Company D, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team assist the Waynesboro First Aid Crew with a rescue call Jan. 23, 2016, near Waynesboro, Virginia. The first aid crew was unable to reach the location of the call with their ambulance, so the Soldiers drove them to the residence, cleared them a path in the snow, then transported the patient back to the ambulance for evacuation.
