West Virginia welcomes Peruvian MPs during State Partnership Program visit

West Virginia’s Camp Dawson was home to five Peruvian officers June 15 to 19, continuing a 20-year partnership between Peru’s Army and the West Virginia Army National Guard.The WVARNG’s 151st Military Police Battalion hosted the visit, the first time that branch has been involved in the West Virginia-Peru State Partnership Program. The Peruvian officers observed the 157th Military Police Company's annual training, granting them the opportunity to interact with WVARNG Soldiers and share knowledge.

New Mexico Airmen and Soldiers assisting at Dog Head Fire

Sgt. Frances Bird Collins, a Soldier with the New Mexico Army National Guard's 1116th Transportation Company, is participating in the water haul mission in support of those residents unable to leave their livestock on the edges of the Dog Head Fire. Even though a mandatory evacuation has been in place for days, some ranchers chose to accept the risk of staying on their land in the affected Torrance County area. The National Guard has been hauling water to some of the tanks and troughs that need to be filled for the welfare of the animals.

Nathan Brown is working hard to staff this new squadron because with a home-station mobilization on the horizon for the fall of 2018, there is no time to waste, he said.
