Army National Guard signal conference highlights data, data transport modernization

Project Manager Tactical Network, at the Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical, and the Arkansas Army National Guard 239th Brigade Engineering Battalion, demonstrated the Disaster Incident Response Emergency Communications Terminal (DIRECT) tool suite during the 2022 Army National Guard G6 Tactical Communications Conference in May 2022 at Little Rock, Arkansas. DIRECT enables Army National Guard signal units to provide commercial phone, internet access, command post Wi-Fi and radio interoperability to first responders.

Idaho Army National Guard fires precision-guided munitions

The Idaho Army National Guard’s 1st of the 148th Field Artillery Regiment conducted live-fire training using the M109A6 Paladin and more than 80 high explosive rounds during its annual training at the Orchard Combat Training Center May 12-27, 2022. Training included its first live-fire exercise using the U.S. Army’s modernized M1156 Precision Guidance Kit, a GPS smart fuze attachment that enabled the battalion to convert its existing 155 mm artillery shells into smart weapons and improve target trajectory.
