Alaska Air National Guard Airmen rescue injured hunter near Chicken

Pararescue personnel with the Alaska Air National Guard’s 210th Rescue Squadron used an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter like this one in the search for 12 mountaineers stranded in poor weather on Klutlan Glacier southeast of Mt. Bona in Wrangell-St Elias National Park. The mountaineers were rescued June 1 after the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, dispatched an Alaska Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook with a paramedic from the 2nd Battalion, 211 Aviation Regiment.

National Guard supports vulnerable Afghans at military bases

New York Guardsmen responded selflessly to 9/11 attacks

New York National Guard Soldiers and Airmen played a key role in the state response to the attack. More than 14,000 members of the New York Army and Air National Guard, the New York Naval Militia and the New York Guard were on duty at some points in the months after the attack.

Thousands of National Guard members support hurricane relief

The Louisiana National Guard has rescued 359 people and 55 pets either by high-water vehicles, by boats or by air during the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, which made landfall in south Louisiana Aug. 29, 2021, as a Category 4 storm with 150 mph winds.
