Iowa National Guard KC-135 retired after 65 years’ service

A U.S. Air Force KC-135 with 75th anniversary markings, including a large bat tail flash, tail number 57-2606 from the Iowa Air National Guard, taxis on the ramp at the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa, March 1, 2022. The aircraft is due to be decommissioned and sent to the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Idaho National Guard trains for joint combat rescue missions

Idaho Army and Air National Guard aviation units conducted combat search and rescue and escort training together March 9, 2022, over Idaho’s Owyhee Mountains. The training rescue missions involved 124th Fighter Wing A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots escorting UH-60 Black Hawk pilots along the safest route of a simulated combat zone.

145th Airlift Wing conducts aircraft mishap exercise

U.S. Airmen assigned to the North Carolina Air National Guard (NCANG), 145th Civil Engineering Squadron (CES), attempt to extinguish a fire during a simulated aircraft mishap just outside the NCANG base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, March 6, 2022. The 145th CES coordinated the response with the Charlotte Fire Department and other local authorities.
