California National Guard Soldiers train with Indian counterparts in shadow of the Himalayas

Yudh Abhyas 2014 took place above 6,000 feet at Ranikhet Cantonment in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Himalayas provided a backdrop for the training.

New York National Guard leads U.S. delegation to South African air show

Aircraft of the Flying Lions Aerobatics Team perform in their North American AT-6 Harvard Trainers during the African Aerospace & Defense Exposition outside Pretoria, South Africa, Sept. 17, 2014. The New York Army and Air National Guard sent 15 Airmen and Soldiers, a C-17 Globemaster III transport and an RQ-7 Shadow unmanned aerial vehicle to participate in the show. They were part of a U.S. contingent of 100 service members.

Airmen and Soldiers from Guam and Hawaii help rebuild Philippines school

Engineers from the Guam National Guard and the Armed Forces of the Philippines work together to rebuild damaged classrooms and buildings at Marasbaras National High School in Tacloban City, Philippines, following the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan last November.  The project was part of the State Partnership Program.

Kazakhstan and the Arizona National Guard have participated together in the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program since 1993.

Team of 140 Airmen from six ANG wings brings air power to Europe for Steadfast Javelin II

Steadfast Javelin II was a NATO-led exercise involving more than 2,000 service members from several nations, and takes place across Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

Janis Gabranis, TACPs with the Latvian National Armed Forces, make a plan to advance on an enemy position during a reconnaissance mission as part of Operation Northern Strike, a training exercise at Camp Grayling Maneuver Training Center, Michigan. Northern Strike was a three week exercise led by the National Guard that demonstrated the combined power of joint and multi-national air and ground forces. TACPs with the 169th ASOS and more than 5,000 other Service members from 12 states and two coalition nations participated in the combat training.

Colorado and Slovenian Soldiers 'putting your life in a friend's hands'

Hannah Quaney of the Colorado Army National Guard operates a network computer that facilitates her battalion's automation system during a computer simulated training exercise in Postojna, Slovenia. Immediate Response 14 is a U.S. Army Europe-sponsored exercise hosted by Slovenia this year. IR14 is designed to prepare participating nations for increased contributions to ongoing and future NATO post ISAF operations, while enhancing regional cooperation, confidence, and security assurance among regional Balkan allies.
