Air National Guard security forces deploying over 500 to bases in Southwest Asia

Arizona Air National Guard's 162nd Fighter Wing security forces troops load their gear on a KC-135 tanker at Tucson International Airport Feb. 24 on their way to Baghdad International Airport, Iraq, for a six-month deployment. The 19 Airmen, who provide full-time security for the Tucson International Airport, will use their training and expertise to secure Iraq's largest airport. The Airmen are scheduled to return to Tucson in early September. They make up about 1,100 Air National Guard security forces deployed to Southwest Asia in fiscal year 2008.

Soldiers from the Wyoming Army National Guard's 133rd Engineer Company, and a local civilian, prepare sand bags to be stacked along the banks of the Little Snake River in Baggs, Wyo., May 21, 2008, to prevent the town from flooding. The 33 Soldiers work in 12 hour shifts. The unit has been working to save the town since May 19.
