Minnesota signs National Guard's first family covenant

LTG H Steven Blum, chief of the National Guard Bureau, signs the Minnesota Military Family and Community Covenant at a ceremony at the Capitol Building in St. Paul, Minn., on June 16, 2008. Blum joined Secretary of the Army Pete Geren; Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty; Maj. Gen. Larry Shellito, the adjutant general of the Minnesota National Guard, and other military and civilian leaders and servicemembers' families for the ceremony which marked the National Guard's first official family covenant. The covenant lays out specific actions that military and civilian leaders can take to support servicemembers and their families.
