Iowa National Guard supporting tornado relief mission

Iowa National Guard Soldiers patrol the streets of Parkersburg May 28, three days after a tornado ravaged the town, destroying homes and businesses and decimating infrastructure. Among several units called up, approximately 160 Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry are providing security and aiding local officials in recovery efforts. Other Iowa National Guard units are providing communications support, transporting water, creating emergency electrical power and providing operational support.

Soldiers from the Maryland Guard and Baltimore County Fire Department spent the day training and getting familiar with each other's equipment to prepare for a hurricane or major flood in the state.
