Air Force Gen. Craig McKinley, the chief of the National Guard Bureau, recognizes Valerie Gonzalez as a 2010 Our Military Kid of the Year at a ceremony at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C., on April 13, 2010. The daughter or a deployed servicemember, Valerie received a grant from Our Military Kids that paid for extracurricular activities while her father was overseas and she created an "Adopt a Soldier" program at her school that collected boxes of items to be sent to troops serving abroad. Our Military Kids has helped more than 17,000 children of National Guard and Reserve servicemembers with grants for enrichment activities and tutoring that nurture and sustain the children during the time a parent is away in service to our country.

Repair Squadron Engineers. Their mission was to build and repair military
infrastructures that support missions theater wide.

Native American consultation is a key component of Camp Guernsey's cultural resources management program. A tribal monitoring program is in place for ground-disturbing projects; tribes visit on a rotating basis to participate in fieldwork and surveys.
