Guard part of Total Force 'calico' wing supporting worldwide operations

The 313th Air Expeditionary Wing, which is supporting Operation Unified 
Protector, was given a nickname Calico Wing by the wing's commander, Brig. 
Gen. Roy Uptegraff. The 313th AEW operates from an air base in Western Europe. 
Operation Unified Protector is part of the international response to the 
unrest in Libya and enforcement of United Nations Security Council Resolution

North Dakota Guard continues flood fight

The MTS is capable of acting as a navigation system and uses maps to mark roads that have been blocked off and communicates this information with other vehicles. The MTS has only been used during training until now.

Ghanaians get up-close look at how North Dakota Guard handles flooding

North Dakota National Guard Joint Task Force-East leaders and visiting Ghanaian dignitaries tour flood protection measure April 14, 2011, including this AquaFence in Fargo, N.D. The Ghanaian dignitaries are visiting the North Dakota National Guard as part of a State Partnership Program between the African country of Ghana and the North Dakota National Guard. Since 2003, the North Dakota National Guard has developed a professional relationship with Ghana as part of the National Guard State Partnership Program. This program aligns states with partner countries to encourage the development of economic, political and military ties.

Organization honors Guard children

four children honored by Our Military Kids, a nonprofit organization that

Guard’s Quick Response Force protects veteran’s home from river

and Airmen who are members of a North Dakota National Guard quick response 
force team April 14, 2011, near Kindred, N.D. The QRF were responding to a 
request from a rural farm resident, living along the Sheyenne River, for 
sandbag assistance to create a flood levee barrier to rising water around his 
house.  As of April 14, more than 500 N.D. National Guard Airmen and Soldiers 
were conducting flood operations in North Dakota, with the vast majority in 
Cass County.

Guard’s Quick Reaction Force holds back Maple River’s move toward farm

April 12, 2011, near Enderlin, N.D. The QRF is responding to a request from
a farm resident through the Cass County Emergency Operations Center for
sandbag assistance to create a flood levee barrier to rising water around
his house. The tractor is one of the few vehicles light enough and high
enough to cross a precarious section of flooded roadway leading to the
farmstead without damaging the road.

National Guard biathletes on target with Wounded Warriors assist
April 14, 2011
Dennis Hooper, a retired Army Soldier and Wounded Warrior biathlete,
sit-skis toward the finish line of the Mammoth Winter Biathlon on March 26
in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. Fifteen National Guard biathletes assisted at the
event, which marked the first time Guard athletes were sent to an event
primarily to support a Wounded Warrior competition.
