Tanker's first flight over top of the world marks new era in efficiency

Views from a KC-135 Stratotanker reveal icy plateaus over the Arctic on June 22,2011. A tanker crew from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., flew over the North Pole for the first time June 21 to 22, as part of an “iron swap” mission along a new, more efficient route from Moses Lake, Wash., to the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan.
First Moroccan F-16 pilots to complete training with Arizona Air Guard

National Guard works to make water safe for North Dakota hospital

Burton Atkinson, a water purification noncommissioned officer from the 132nd Quartermaster Company, North Dakota National Guard, tests samples of water that his team purified June 26, 2011 in Minot, N.D. His team of water purification specialists are working to create safe and sterile water for the local hospital after civilian officials sent out a boil order for residents of the flooded city.

Iowa National Guard continues to support Missouri River flood response

A UH-60 Black Hawk hooks on to a large bag of sand to deliver to residents along the Missouri river June 8, 2011. Four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the Minnesota and Iowa National Guard and a CH-47 Chinook from the Illinois Army National Guard have been providing support by delivering sandbags to many of the critical areas along the river and by monitoring critical areas along the coast line. Over 400 National Guard members have been activated to provide support to many of the communities along the Missouri who are in danger of flooding.
Nebraska National Guard riggers prepare sandbags to protect Omaha airfield
