DOD Officials: National Guard border support to shift to the air

The U.S. border with Mexico seen on Aug. 25, 2010, near Nogales, Ariz. Up to 1,200 National Guard troops have deployed to the four Southwest Border states in support of the Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement there.

Provincial Reconstruction Team Kapisa, currently training to deploy to Afghanistan at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center, was the first PRT to train on a new virtual reality combat simulator Dec. 16, 2011. The simulator is designed specifically to help Soldiers better deal with the number one killer in the contemporary operating environment: improvised explosive devices.
