South African National Defense Force leaders learn logistics from New York Guard members

Kaarlo Hietala, deputy director of logistics for the New York Army National Guard, and other logistic support leaders, shares some best practices with members of the South African Defense Force logistics team during a visit by the South Africans to the New York Army National Guard's Lexington Avenue Armory in New York July 3, 2012. The engagement was part of the New York Guard's partnership with the Republic of South Africa through the National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program.

Members of the 153rd Airlift Wing load a U.S. Forest Service Modular Airborne Firefighting System II onto a C-130 Hercules aircraft in support of operations suppressing wildfires in Colorado. Working out of Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., the more than 65,000 gallons of retardant have been dropped by crews from the 153rd AW and 302nd Airlift Wing on the Waldo Canyon wildfire.

Soldiers with the Colorado Army National Guard's C Company, 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment take off from Fort Collins/Loveland Municipal Airport in Colorado, as part of a mission in support of fighting Colorado's High Park wildfire. Aircrews from the unit have recently been transitioned over to fighting the Waldo Canyon, Colo., wildfire as well.
