New York Guard personnel, helicopters assist after Michael

A New York Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter transports search and rescue personnel and their all-terrain vehicles to St. Teresa, along the shoreline of the Florida panhandle, Oct. 12, 2018. The New York Army National Guard Soldiers deployed two Chinooks and two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters along with 25 crew members to Tallahassee, Florida, to assist with response and recovery efforts for the Florida National Guard following the impact of Hurricane Michael.

N.Y. air wing begins annual support for Antarctic mission

An LC-130 assigned to the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing leaves Stratton Air National Guard Base on Sept. 16, 2018, en route to McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. The 109th Airlift Wing flies the only ski-equipped planes in the U.S. military which can land on snow and ice.
