Virginia Maneuver Training Center helps spread UXO awareness

Soldiers and civilians assigned to Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett complete a two-day “train the trainer” course designed to help spread awareness of the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance Sept. 28-29, 2021, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers taught the course.
29th Infantry Division moves 5,000 Afghans through Kuwait

Fort Indiantown Gap was the busiest National Guard training center in the country in 2021.
Virginia National Guard officer assumes post in Colombia

Angel Pastrana is serving as a bilateral affairs officer for U.S. Southern Command at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, after graduating from the Spanish-immersive Command and General Staff College course at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation in Fort Benning, Georgia.
91st Cyber Brigade Soldiers earn Ranger tab

Andre Slonopas, right, commander of the Virginia National Guard's 134th Cyber Security Company, 124th Cyber Protection Battalion, 91st Cyber Brigade, proudly shows off his Ranger tab following the completion of the U.S. Army Ranger School in July 2021 at Fort Benning, Georgia. Slonopas, who began his career as an engineer officer with the Fredericksburg-based 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, switched to the Fairfax-based Data Processing Unit in 2014 and became one of the staff officers instrumental in standing up the 91st Cyber Brigade.
Wisconsin Guard cyber team serving 1st federal deployment

Soldiers of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s Detachment 1, 176th Cyber Protection Team, with Maj. Gen. Paul Knapp, Wisconsin’s adjutant general, following their external evaluation exercise prior to deploying. The team, which includes Soldiers from Minnesota, Illinois and Virginia, is in the midst of a mobilization to cyberspace operations in support of U.S. Cyber Command and Cyber National Mission Force requirements.

VNG cyber Soldiers ran a help desk and helped conduct validations for several cyber protection teams.

116th IBCT Soldiers train on new recoilless rifle system

The training consisted of classroom learning and a live-fire range with the MAAWS, an 84-millimeter recoilless rifle.

VNG medics trained and certified by VDH are administering the vaccines, and additional Soldiers are assisting with logistics.
