Virginia Guard Returns From Federal Active Duty in Iraq, Kuwait

The first groups of the Virginia National Guard’s Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group Headquarters return to Norfolk, Virginia, June 17, 2022, and reunite with loved ones, after supporting Operation Inherent Resolve at multiple locations Oct. 7, 2021, to June 6, 2022. The 329th’s mission was to provide mission command and base life support to Al Asad Air Base, Erbil Air Base and Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center in Iraq and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
National Guard Coordinates Transport of German Satellite

In May 2022, the NGCC, along with the operations directorates of various National Guard elements, were instrumental in the delivery of the German Ministry of Defense’s SARah satellite from Baltimore to Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, for its June 18 launch into space.

The unit, which was stood up in 2017, is preparing for its first overseas mobilization, to the Central Command area of operations, this spring.
