West Virginia, Qatar formalize military partnership

West Virginia and Peru have a longstanding relationship under the National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program.

WVNG joins SPP partner Qatar in virtual exercise

Members of the West Virginia National Guard recently participated in a virtual seminar with members of the Qatari Emiri Land Forces (QELF) as a part of the Eastern Action joint operations staff exercise between elements of the Qatari military and the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) Operation Spartan Shield and Task Force Spartan. Since 2018, the WVNG has worked closely with Qatar as part of the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program.

Capt. Allen Paul Jordan, the West Virginia National Guard’s State Partnership Program – Qatar bilateral affairs officer, with Qatari Brig. Gen. Sultan Mohammed Sultan Al Shawani, multilingual school commander, following his completion of a three-week basic Arabic course offered at the Qatar Armed Forces Language Institute in Al Sheehaniya, Qatar.
