Citizen-Soldier supports New Mexico Guard in his civilian capacity

Pfc. David Mathews, a Soldier with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 717th Brigade Support Battalion, poses next to a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter used by the air medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) crews of Company C, 1st Battalion, 171st Aviation Regiment. The MEDEVAC was staged at the airport in Carlsbad in order to provide timely response in case of an emergency warranting their launch. Mathews, an employee of Chandler Aviation, supported the Soldiers from his civilian capacity.

Pennsylvania Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Kwiecien, a flight medic with nearly 20 years of service, is deploying to Southwest Asia soon with Detachment 1, Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment, where he will serve as noncommissioned officer in charge of the unit.
