N.H. Soldiers practice swift water rescues in El Salvador

NHARNG 1st Lt. Katrina Simpson, an infantry officer with Mountain Company, works with Salvadoran soldiers and firefighters to complete a rope system spanning the Lempa River in El Salvador June 7, 2018. The swift water rescue training, led by Maj. Brian Fernandes, deputy commander, 12th Civil Support Team, brought N.H. Guardsmen, Salvadoran soldiers and firefighters together to focus on sharing ideas and best practices for rescue techniques to improve interoperability between civilian and military personnel.

Kentucky Air National Guard aircrews with the 123rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron were called to active duty in January, 1968 in response to the capture of the US Naval Ship Pueblo by North Korea. 104 officers and 650 Airmen mobilized overseas for the incident would be called the Pueblo Crisis.
