The Harlem Hellfighters: A Legacy of Lasting Impact

South Carolina National Guard Hosts Colombia Defense Chief

West Virginia National Guard, Gabon Announce State Partnership

The West Virginia National Guard has been selected as the U.S. partner to the nation of Gabon in central Africa for the Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program, Gov. Jim Justice announced March 6. Gabon is the 19th African nation to join with a U.S. state via the SPP.

Michigan Guard, Liberia Partner on NCO Academy in West Africa

Instructors from the Michigan National Guard’s 177th Regional Training Institute teamed with instructors from the Armed Forces of Liberia Feb. 19 to March 3, 2024, to assess an instructor “dry-run” at Camp Ware, Liberia. The West African nation, partnered with the Michigan National Guard under the State Partnership Program since 2009, is standing up its own Noncommissioned Officer Academy.

Michigan National Guard to Help Improve State Parks
March 4, 2024
Approximately 100 Soldiers from the 1430th Engineer Company, 107th Engineer Battalion, Michigan National Guard, conducted multiple engineering projects at Otsego Lake State Park and Young State Park in June 2022. The Michigan National Guard and Michigan Department of Natural Resources will work together again to improve state park facilities beginning in spring 2024.

North Dakota National Guard Fights Missouri River Ice Jams

A North Dakota National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter fills up a bucket with 660 gallons of water to drop on an ice jam on the Missouri River in Bismarck, North Dakota, Feb. 29, 2024, to break up the ice and prevent flooding. Two Black Hawks dropped over 70,000 gallons of water in four hours.
