New York and Louisiana Guard members honor fallen comrades 10 years later

The unit was joined for the ceremony by their brethren from the New York National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, which was the unit’s higher headquarters during the deployment.

New York National Guard unit marks death of 8 Louisiana Soldiers

Veterans from the New York Army National Guard's Task Force Wolfhound join the Urbina family at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York, to mark the tenth anniversary of Spc. Wilfredo Urbina's loss in combat on Nov. 29, 2004 while deployed with the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry to Iraq. The 69th Regimental family also remembered Sgt. Christian Engeldrum in a wreath-laying ceremony Nov. 29, 2014, at Engeldrum Bluff at Fort Hamilton, New York, and at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

New York National Guard will help safeguard Times Square New Year's celebration

A New York National Guard Soldier and Airman assigned to Joint Task Force Empire Shield keep an eye on the crowd coming and going in New York City's Pennsylvania Station Amtrak terminal on  Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014. The two are part of the New York National Guard's  500-member State Active Duty force that assists  the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police Department, the Bridge and Port Authority Police Department and the Amtrak Police at New York City's airports and key transit terminals. The uniformed National Guard members do not have arrest authority but provide additional eyes and assist police when requested.
