Iowa National Guard uses moulage for realistic medical training

Sgt. Krystal Thibault, an Iowa National Guard medical trainer at the Sustainment Training Center on Camp Dodge, applies a mock wound using the moulage technique Feb. 12, 2020. Thibault applied several kinds of mock injuries to Alabama National Guard Soldiers during their medical training rotation. Moulage is used to add a level of realism when training to evaluate casualties.

Hofford recently completed a nearly three-year process of obtaining a waiver to pilot a high G aircraft with a prosthetic disc in his neck, making him the first in the world to do so.

The training is to ensure Soldiers are aware and capable of the processes in self-rescue and buddy-rescue when there is a risk of falling through ice.

Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) soldiers with Military Engagement Team-Jordan, 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Arizona Army National Guard, during a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Wheeled Armored Vehicle Subject Matter Expert Exchange at a base outside Amman, Jordan, in January.
