GLENVILLE, N.Y. - New York Army National Guard Sgt. Joshua Young will be honored for heroism in combat today during a ceremony at the Glenville Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Young was to receive a Bronze Star for Valor recognizing his heroism under fire in Afghanistan on March 16, 2012, while he was serving with a Fort Drum-based ordnance disposal battalion.

He is currently assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 1018th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) based at the Scotia Glenville Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Young is being honored for saving a soldier's life, while repeatedly exposing himself to enemy fire, and pushing on to continue the unit mission.
