Wisconsin Guard Completes Multinational Training in Africa

Wisconsin Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery, fire their High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems in a live-fire exercise during African Lion 2022, at Cap Draa, Morocco, June 30, 2022. 177th Fighter Wing Holds Maintainer for a Day Program

National Guard Demonstrates Capabilities During African Lion

Key leadership from the Idaho National Guard and several other U.S. states joined partner nations in Morocco June 30, 2022, to see the capabilities of multinational armies working together in a combined arms live-fire mission. During the exercise, Soldiers from Idaho's 1st Battalion of the 148th Field Artillery Regiment fired M795 high explosive rounds from the M109A6 howitzers as Soldiers with the Oregon, Utah and Wisconsin Army National Guard, a Marine Corps Reserve unit based in California and active-duty Soldiers from Fort Hood, Texas, provided ground cover.

The first groups of the Virginia National Guard’s Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group Headquarters return to Norfolk, Virginia, June 17, 2022, and reunite with loved ones, after supporting Operation Inherent Resolve at multiple locations Oct. 7, 2021, to June 6, 2022. The 329th’s mission was to provide mission command and base life support to Al Asad Air Base, Erbil Air Base and Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center in Iraq and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
