West Virginia’s Camp Dawson was home to five Peruvian officers June 15 to 19, continuing a 20-year partnership between Peru’s Army and the West Virginia Army National Guard.The WVARNG’s 151st Military Police Battalion hosted the visit, the first time that branch has been involved in the West Virginia-Peru State Partnership Program. The Peruvian officers observed the 157th Military Police Company's annual training, granting them the opportunity to interact with WVARNG Soldiers and share knowledge.

New York Airmen dive into competition for German military proficiency badge

New York Air National Guard Senior Airman Dominic Scaringe and Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Valk compete in the swim portion of the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge Competition on June 16, 2016, at the Glenville, N.Y., YMCA. Eight Airmen with the 109th Airlift Wing competed in the second phase of the competition - to qualify they needed to swim 100 meters in under 4 minutes. The unit is based at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, N.Y.

Sgt. Frances Bird Collins, a Soldier with the New Mexico Army National Guard's 1116th Transportation Company, is participating in the water haul mission in support of those residents unable to leave their livestock on the edges of the Dog Head Fire. Even though a mandatory evacuation has been in place for days, some ranchers chose to accept the risk of staying on their land in the affected Torrance County area. The National Guard has been hauling water to some of the tanks and troughs that need to be filled for the welfare of the animals.
