Wisconsin Air Guard pilot reaches 3,000 flight hours while in Japan

Read Across America is an 18-year-old national initiative sponsored by the National Education Association to encourage young people to read by holding special reading events involving military and community members.

Virginia National Guard returns to routine operations after snow assistance

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the Cedar Bluff-based 1033rd Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion employ engineering equipment to remove snow in Lee County, Va. Feb. 28, 2015. More than 125 Soldiers have supported response and recover efforts following significant amounts of snowfall in Southwest and Eastern Virginia.

Guard members in Kentucky, Arkansas and Virginia respond to winter weather

Members of the Kentucky Army Guard have been on duty throughout the eastern and southern portions of the state assisting with clearing roads, emergency response and distribution of food, water and other supplies to those hardest hit by winter storms that moved through the area recently. Guard members in Arkansas and Virginia have been called out as well in response to winter weather that affected those areas.

Wightman, Jr. presents the 2014 Reserve Family Readiness Awards to the top units in the seven Reserve and National Guard services at a ceremony Feb. 27, 2015 at the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes.  The Reserve Family Readiness Award is given to the unit in each of the seven services that demonstrates excellence in engaging with and supporting their members' families.
